With each new workshop and course, the actor adds more and more tools to a
vast collection. It can be a real challenge to discover a method of
combining and drawing on all these skills when it comes time to prepare
for a performance. Developing the Performance is an advanced workshop for
adults designed to encourage actors to explore and combine skills and
techniques learned in previous courses and workshops. These various
techniques are discussed and explored, and students are given the
opportunity to apply their skills within a structured setting. Emphasis
is placed on keeping the actor's spontaneity, creativity, and imagination
alive through improvisation, self-exploration, and risk taking.
Central to this workshop is the idea that each actor and each actor's
style is unique, and students will learn how to create effective,
individualized methods of blending styles and techniques.
